Launch pad for F 104 G
- 72(Rev),48(Kin/Has),32(Ital)-
The launch pad for the F 104 G is being developed in cooperation with Scorpion Design and the Lechfeld Military History Collection.
Idea
The launch pad for the F104 G was born from the idea of building a jet in a special configuration. As jets are not really one of my “preferences”, I wanted it to be something really special. In cooperation with Scorpion Design and the Lechfeld Military History Collection, this was the most elaborate project I have ever undertaken. Many hours of research went into recording all the details and adapting them to the model.
Background and history
The Bundeswehr's ZELL program, which originated at Lockheed in California, was used to test the F104G. Using a Rocketdyne booster, the jet was to be able to take off from a standstill (cross-country take-off frame) in order to launch an immediate counter-attack in the event of an attack.
The model
When implementing the project, we attached great importance from the outset to ensuring that both the booster/cradle and the actual launch pad are suitable for the standard kits. As the different kits and scales unfortunately vary greatly in terms of scale accuracy, some of the sets on offer have been supplemented with corresponding components or components have been combined in order to adapt them to the respective kit. As an example for the 1:72 scale, components that are too delicate have been integrated into the adjacent components. So everyone can choose their favorite scale and have a suitable solution.
