Revement wall - created by Thomas Mohr
Description:
These walls made of trapezoidal sheet metal were developed to protect the neighboring aircraft from splinters in the event of explosions next to or in aircraft. The reason for the invention of these walls was repeated mortar attacks by the Vietcong on American airfields or on the aircraft parked there in rows. They were filled with earth or sand on the inside to provide the necessary stability. This system was used by the US Air Force in Vietnam from 1965. This type of wall can now be found at almost every US Air Force base.
