F 104G  ZELL

- 72(Rev),48(Kin/Has),32(Ital)-

The research for the ZELL kits was supported by the Lechfeld Military History Collection.

Collaboration

These products were created as a joint project between Thomas Mohr (Scorpion Design) and Kevin Dittmann (Scaleplanes by Kevin Dittmann).
In close cooperation and countless hours of research, long discussions, as well as the precise evaluation of all available photos and drawings, the components now available were developed with the focus on the greatest possible fidelity to reality. From this, the present kits were then put together, which should give the model builder the opportunity to put an unusual model of an unusual aircraft in the showcase, depending on taste.

Background and history

The ZELL program of the Bundeswehr, which originated at Lockheed in California, served to test the possibility of launching an F104G from a standstill using a Rocketdyne booster. The strategy of immediate retaliation at the time envisaged a direct counter-attack. This could have been carried out in this way.
